• Candidates must be between 17 and 21 years of age (17 by September 1 of the entry year).
• An advanced level in ballet and/or contemporary dance with a solid grounding is required.
• Candidates must have a good understanding of English or French.
• There are no academic requirements for entry to the program.
• We welcome applications from European and international students.

All applicants must complete and submit an application form including:

1. Registration form
2. One passport-size portrait photo
3. A motivational essay (min. 300 words) describing your dance-related achievements, ambitions and aspirations for the next three years, and why you want to study at Dance Area.

Part 1
Personal presentation (max 1 min.)
By stating your name, age, background and a few words about your motivation for coming to study with us.

Part 2
Classical (max. 4 min.)

• Center grand adagio
• Combination with pirouettes
• Little allegro
• Grand allegro

Part 3
Contemporary (max. 2min.)

• A solo of your choice, to be filmed in the studio in dance clothes and without editing. The solo can be from the repertoire or a personal composition (no video on stage).

This fee covers the cost of administrative processing of your application and is non-refundable if an audition offer is not made.

Candidates will be informed by e-mail of their admission to the in-person audition or to the second round of video selection within 14 days of submitting their application.

• Learning excerpts from the Area Jeune Ballet repertoire
• Performance of a pre-prepared solo (personal composition, maximum two minutes)
• An individual interview

Only possible for candidates who are geographically distant or unable to attend the audition (please enclose proof). The administration will validate on a case-by-case basis.

• Video sequences of extracts from the Area Jeune Ballet repertoire will be sent to candidates, who will have 15 days to learn the material and return their video.
• At the end of the^2nd video selection, successful candidates will be invited to a digital interview (final stage of the process).

• Classic: black or gray tights or shorts, and tight white or black t-shirt and 1⁄2 spikes.
• Contemporary: comfortable dancewear, e.g. shorts, leggings, T-shirts.
  Barefoot or socks.
• Solo: Free dress.
