Artistic vision
Neel Verdoorn creates works full of dynamic movement – she seeks a raw, instinctive, and expressive material of animalistic motion. In contrast, Neel has a fascination with architecture and space. This fascination translates into clear, tightly structured forms of movement that consistently present a new spatial effect.
On the one hand, she is interested in the tension between the personal language of movement and the dancer’s expression, and on the other hand, she turns to the abstract and compositional codes of choreography. By personifying and eliminating superimpositions, Neel Verdoorn’s objective is to create a performance with which the audience can identify.
The foundation of Neel Verdoorn’s work lies in recognizable themes such as female friendship, the role of men in contemporary society, and so on. She doesn’t translate these themes into a literal narrative. Ultimately, it’s up to the audience to create their own story and leave the performance with images that will stay with them.
